Victoria L. Johnson is a writer, host, and podcaster with over ten years of experience reporting on music, anime, comic books, and film/TV. Her byline can be found in several outlets, including Complex, Teen Vogue, Vulture, Polygon, Mashable, and VIBE.
Victoria currently hosts the Sailor Moon Fan Club podcast, a four-year-long running show where she interviews incredible Sailor Moon fans. Previous guests include Saweetie, Baby Tate, Terri Hawkes, and Mercedes Moné (Sasha Banks). The podcast has been featured in Mic and Insider, nominated for a Black Podcasting Award, and named by Nerdist as one of the “18 Geek and Nerd Podcasts with Outstanding Black Hosts” and Audible as one of the “The Best Anime Podcasts for Enthusiasts and Newcomers Alike.“ Before the Sailor Moon Fan Club podcast, Victoria co-hosted the Nerds on Hip-Hop podcast from 2015 to 2019, where she and her co-host explored the connections between nerd culture and hip-hop.
Victoria regularly produces and moderates panels for conventions, including San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic Con, and Anime NYC. She’s hosted the “Not Dead Yet… Past, Present, and Future of MEGALOBOX” discussion at Anime NYC, and the “Boy Meets World 30th Anniversary Cast Panel,” “X-Men: The Animated Series Cast Reunion,” and “Chainsaw Man Cast Panel” at C2E2.
She also produced and moderated the popular panels “Celebrating 30 Years of Sailor Moon,” “Celebrating 25 Years of Toonami,” “Black Trailblazers in the Anime Industry,” and “Nerds on Hip-Hop: Bridging the Gap Between Anime and Hip-Hop,” among others.
Victoria is also writing a hip-hop-inspired magical girls comic book and a YA novel about a Black detective.
